Arsene Wenger is eyeing a move for young Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham and wants to bring the teenager to the Emirates this summer, according to The Sun.
Abraham has just enjoyed a prolific season in the Championship on loan with Bristol City where he scored 23 goals for a side that finished just three points off the drop zone.
Only Leeds United striker Chris Wood scored more league goals than Abraham last season and the teenager’s exploits have thrust him into the spotlight.
Wenger wants to strengthen his attack next season and is keen on bringing in Abraham despite the fierce rivalry that exists between the two clubs.
While Abraham has been at Chelsea since a young age he could reportedly be tempted to leave if Antonio Conte cannot guarantee him first-team minutes for next season.
The Blues are also expected to strengthen offensively over the summer with Diego Costa widely expected to leave and Alvaro Morata heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge and it’s unclear if Abraham will be part of Conte’s plans.
Arsenal, meanwhile, have also been linked with Morata as well as a host of other strikers including Alexandre Lacazette, Karim Benzema and Andrea Belotti.
Certainly there may be room for another forward with Lucas Perez looking destined to leave after becoming frustrated with his bit-part role and some speculation linking Olivier Giroud with a return to France.
Abraham certainly looks to have huge potential and could be a far cheaper options than some of Arsenal’s top targets, although prising him away from Chelsea may be difficult.
The club’s transfer plans will also surely be affected by whether Arsenal finish in the top four and also if Alexis Sanchez opts to stay at the club.
