Sky Sports are reporting that Arsenal have agreed a deal with Schalke’s Sead Kolasinac and the left-back will sign on 1 July. The Bosnian’s contract expires at the end of the season and it seems that the Gunners have seen off stiff competition for the 23-year-old (via Sky Sports).
The season may not be over but it seems that the Gunners are already planning for next term. Arsenal may be set to miss out on Champions League football but that doesn’t seem to have hurt player recruitment.
Sky Sports are reporting that Arsenal have made their first summer signing with Schalke defender Sead Kolasanic set to move to the Emirates in July.
The Bosnian’s contract expires with the Bundesliga side expires on 1 July and it seems that the Gunners have moved quickly to secure the man.
Kolasinac is a versatile defender who has spent much of his recent time in the Schalke side playing at left-back. It’s thought that his playing time as a full-back is what has attracted the club to the defender.
The 23-year-old’s arrival would change the situations for Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs. One player would probably have to make way for the Bosnian and with Monreal the first-team regular, it could be the end of Kieran Gibbs’ time at the Emirates.
We are still awaiting official confirmation but the fact that Sky Sports are reporting it’s a done deal is a good sign. It seems that Arsenal will indeed sign Sead Kolasinac in the summer in what could be a good signing. The left full-back position is one which desperately needs upgrading and if the Gunners are to continue playing a 3-4-3 formation, an attacking upgrade on Nacho Monreal is needed. Hopefully, Sead Kolasinac will be just what Arsenal need.
