Ex-Arsenal right-back Lauren believes Arsenal should be going all out to sign a player like Luis Suarez (via Goal).
Part of the famed Arsenal Invincibles, Lauren claims something at Arsenal needs to change. He suggests that a South American work-horse is exactly what we need, with players like Suarez always giving 110%.
“Sometimes a charismatic figure in the team can affect the rest of the players. I like South American strikers – Carlos Tevez, Gonzalo Higuain – players that always give full commitment,” Lauren said.
“Suarez, too. He scores goals, he comes back to defend, he’s got ambition and hunger – the player has to be charismatic so that the players in the dressing room look up to him like he’s an icon.”
We already have a hard working South American in Alexis Sanchez, but we could definitely use a prolific forward. Luis Suarez has scored 54 goals for Barcelona so far this season, and things could have been oh so very different for Arsenal over the last couple of seasons.
He seemed so close to joining us back when he was playing for Liverpool, but obviously the move never came to fruition. We need to make sure that if we ever do get the chance to sign a player of his quality again we don’t make the same mistakes, as we’ve seen the detrimental impact it can have.

There aren’t really any other players like Suarez around, so we can’t expect to find someone of his quality this summer. But there are definitely some quality strikers out there, and we can certainly improve on the current options we have up front.
