Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has rejected the chance to join Chelsea and instead prefers a transfer to Premier League rivals Liverpool (via The BBC).
He has historically been a hugely popular player amongst Arsenal fans but it’s fair to say that more than a few were switched off on Sunday.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s performance against Liverpool at the weekend was hardly the best he’s put in for the club and it seems like we have found the reason why.
The Ox has been strongly linked with a move to Chelsea in the past week with rumours of a £40 million offer being accepted by Arsenal.
Now, it seems that the former Southampton man has rejected the chance to move to Stamford Bridge and instead prefers a transfer to Liverpool as it would reportedly give him a better chance of playing central midfield.
Jurgen Klopp is interested in the player but Arsenal are currently refusing to sell to the Reds on the grounds that their offer was a full £5 million less than Chelsea’s was.
It remains to be seen whether Oxlade-Chamberlain will, in fact, complete his move away from the Gunners. Few would have missed him before last season but his performances at right wing-back were impressive. Now the player wants to switch to the middle which the Gunners are unwilling to do so there’s no solution other than to raise as much money from the sale as possible.
