Arsenal have rejected a £50 million transfer offer from Manchester City for Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez (via The BBC).
With the transfer deadline under two days away, Arsenal are set to be incredibly busy with players both coming in and leaving the club.
The defeat to Liverpool on Sunday typified the drastic need for reinforcement in the squad but that will be difficult with players wanting a way out.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Shkodran Mustafi are close to moves away and it seems that Alexis Sanchez is keen to join them.
The Chilean only joined the Gunners back in 2014 and has been a hugely important first-team player ever since.
With just one season left on his contract, Premier League rivals Manchester City have made a £50 million offer for Sanchez which has been rejected by the Gunners.
The BBC’s David Ornstein reports that “Arsenal’s stance remains that they have no desire to sell, unless huge money and a player – most likely Sterling – are offered.”
The club have remained adamant throughout the summer that their desire was to keep Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean’s contract may expire next season but some still hold out hope that he will sign a new deal at the Emirates. It’s good to see the Gunners hold firm after this offer which would spell disaster for Arsenal if it were to be accepted with such little time left to find a replacement.
