Arsene Wenger has spoken about rumours linking Shkodran Mustafi with a move away from the club and he hasn’t ruled out a sale (via Arsenal.com).
It would be one of the most surprising transfers of the window but it seems that there is a chance of Shkodran Mustafi leaving Arsenal in the next week.
The German only moved to the Gunners last season but has been the subject of reported interest from Inter Milan in the last few days.
Arsene Wenger was asked about a potential sale of the 25-year-old and didn’t exactly rule anything out.
“It’s difficult for me to speak about any individual cases because we are now in the final seven days of the transfer market,” Wenger replied when asked about the possibility of Mustafi leaving.
“It’s always very difficult to predict what will happen there. You have to make quick and sharp decisions, and you cannot plan that and come out in the press conference with how you will respond to any solicitation.”
Wenger didn’t exactly say one way or the other but, then again, he wouldn’t. Still, it’s interesting that he hasn’t categorically ruled out a move. Shkodran Mustafi had a steady first season with the Gunners but he didn’t exactly set the Premier League alight. Perhaps Wenger is looking at another signing at centre-back which would free up his exit.
