Thomas Lemar ‘wants to go to Arsenal’ according to French newspaper L’Equipe who report Monaco are considering a move for Rachid Ghezzal, which could allow the Gunners to finally land their man.
Lemar has emerged as Arsenal’s top target this summer and the club have reportedly already had several bids turned down for the exciting young French international.
Monaco are reluctant to allow Lemar to leave, particularly having already lost several key players, but the report suggests they could be tempted if they land Ghezzal.
The 25-year-old is now available on a free transfer after his contract with Lyon expired, and the report claims Monaco are now in negotiations with his representatives.
Although a number of other clubs are believed to be interested in Ghezzal, it seems Monaco are in pole position and the report claims his arrival could see Lemar head to Arsenal.
Arsenal’s interest in Lemar certainly shows no sign of waning, despite Monaco having reportedly placed an £80 million price tag on the youngster.
He certainly would prove an excellent signing, if Arsenal do manage to bring him in, and along with Alexandre Lacazette would give the Gunners’ attack a huge boost ahead of the new season.
Recent speculation also seems to suggest that Lemar is keen on Arsenal, the only problem remains convincing Monaco to part ways with yet another member of last season’s title-winning squad.
