Monaco are reportedly ready to offer Arsenal £45 million for Alexis Sanchez, as they are keen to land a top star this summer with Kylian Mbappe expected to leave.
According to The Sun, Monaco believe Arsenal could be tempted to sell the Chilean, to avoid losing him for free next summer, when his current deal expires.
The French champions are not short of cash, having already sold Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy and Tiemoue Bakayoko and with Mbappe widely tipped to leave.
The club are reportedly ready to offer Sanchez a tax-free salary of £300,000-per-week, and feel he could be persuaded to join the club for at least a season.
Sanchez has this week returned to training, with Arsene Wenger again reiterating that the club will not sell him this summer.
While Manchester City are believed to still be interested, no offers have yet been made, and PSG’s capture of Neymar suggests their reported interest in Sanchez may have cooled.
Although it’s far from certain whether Sanchez will stay, it would certainly be embarrassing for Wenger in particular, if he does leave, having insisting time and time again he is staying.
While Arsenal would prefer to sell abroad, if they are to allow Sanchez to leave, an offer of £45m seems unlikely to be enough to convince them, and it remains to be seen if the Chilean would be tempted by Monaco, despite the huge wages on offer.
