Arsenal have joined the race to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid as they eye potential replacements for Alexis Sanchez.
A report in The Sun claims the Gunners are keen on the Spain international who could cost upto £50 million this summer if he leaves the Bernabeu.
Morata only returned to the club last summer but has frequently found himself on the bench despite impressing whenever he has been handed a first-team chance.
The forward actually has 15 goals from just 13 starts in La Liga and his impressive form, and limited chances, have increased speculation over his future.
While Madrid will surely want to keep Morata, the club have been linked with a mega-bid for Kylian Mbappe this summer.
Morata, meanwhile, will surely want assurances over his future if he is to remain in Madrid, although that may be difficult with Zinedine Zidane’s future, rather remarkably, still far from certain.
Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked with Morata with both Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte having worked with the striker previously.
However, the Blues are also believed to be keen on re-signing Romelu Lukaku while United are reportedly keen to bring in Antoine Griezmann.
Morata could certainly be available this summer and would undoubtedly prove a quality signing, with Arsenal sure to have funds available particularly if Sanchez does depart.
It perhaps goes without saying, however, that the club may well need to be able to offer Champions League football if they are to capture a player of Morata’s quality.
