Arsene Wenger is keen to bring Alexandre Lacazette and Benjamin Mendy to Arsenal this summer with the two Frenchmen his top summer targets, according to the Sunday Mirror.
Wenger is expected to stay and rebuild his squad this summer and has already contacted the agents of both players to discuss their future intentions.
Lacazette is a long-term Arsenal target although he has recently insisted he only wants to move to a club with Champions League football if he leaves Lyon this summer.
The striker is expected to cost £35m but a host of clubs are interested in his services including Atletico Madrid and Liverpool with Diego Simeone’s side currently favourites to capture his signature.
Mendy, meanwhile, has excelled at Monaco this season with the Ligue 1 side having reached the semi-finals of the Champions League and currently favourites to be crowned champions in France.
The 22-year-old is one of the most exciting full-backs in Europe but is expected to be available for just £25m, although like Lacazette he is bound to be in-demand this summer.
Certainly a squad overhaul at Arsenal is needed this summer but much will depend on whether the club can secure a top four finish and also who will be in charge next season.
The futures of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez may also go a long way to deciding the club’s transfer policy with the Chilean currently the subject of a reported £55m bid from Bayern Munich.
