Arsenal are reportedly battling with Juventus for the signing of Schalke’s Sead Kolasinac. The left-back is out of contract in the summer and is said to be deciding between the Gunners and the Serie A champions (via Tutto Mercato).
Arsene Wenger announced the signing of left-back Cohen Bramall this week but he could soon be announcing another. Reports indicate that the Gunners have offered a contract to the 23-year-old Bosnian left-back Sead Kolasinac.
Kolasinac is a versatile player who can operate in midfield, at centre-back or at left full-back where he has spent much of this season. The Bosnian international has been in fine form for his club which has seemingly attracted admirers across Europe. Liverpool were linked with the full-back but Juventus seem to be the club at the front of the queue.
The 23-year-old is seen as a potential long-term replacement for Patrice Evra who has himself been linked with a remarkable return to Manchester United. Reports vary with some indicating that the Italian giants have all but agreed a deal with Kolasinac while others like Tutto Mercato claim that Arsenal lead the way.
Left-back is perhaps the weakest area in the Arsenal team right now and with Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal both aged 27 or over, it’s an area which Arsene Wenger should be looking to strengthen. Sead Kolasinac has impressed in the Bundesliga this season and would be a very interesting option if Arsenal could secure his signature.
