The Gabon international boss has recently revealed that Arsenal target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang asked not to be selected for the national side as he was in the process of changing clubs, but Borussia Dortmund claim this is absolute nonsense, as reported by the Daily Star.

The 26-year-old is one of the most sought after strikers in the world right now, and the shortage of top forwards at the moment means he’s even more coveted.
He’s been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal, Manchester United, and Real Madrid, with Gabon boss Jorge Costa pouring fuel on the fire with his recent comments.
“Aubameyang asked me not to be selected [for the game against Mauritania] because he is in the process of changing clubs,” he said.
While we are far from first in line for his signature, if Aubameyang really were to be leaving this summer it could be great news for us. While it’s hard to see Arsene Wenger matching the £70m asking price apparently on his head (via the Daily Star), if the in-form forward does make a move we could see a bit of Gareth Bale/Mesut Özil style musical chairs.
Very few clubs could afford Aubameyang, so if he does leave Dortmund this summer it’s more than likely to be to a club like Real Madrid. If Real were to sign Aubameyang then Karim Benzema could potentially be ushered towards the exit, which would open the door for Wenger to land his compatriot after all these years.
Dortmund have rubbished reports that he’s anywhere near leaving though, with Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke telling Bild: “Is Aubameyang set to leave? That’s b******t!”
That’s a very emphatic no, but obviously we can’t expect anything else from anyone at Dortmund. Admitting that they are willing to sell would drastically weaken their bargaining position, and if he really is on his way out we probably won’t hear any kind of confirmation until a deal is done.

While not impossible, it’s very hard to see Aubameyang at Arsenal next season. That doesn’t mean a transfer couldn’t benefit us though, so hopefully the rumours of his exit prove correct.
