The 17-year-old has been heavily linked with the Gunners this month, with suggestions Arsene Wenger is set to give the green light for a double swoop for Nwakali and compatriot Samuel Chukwueze (via ESPN FC).
It appears Nwakali is still nailed on for a move to the north London club this week with his brother, Allwell, remaining confident the deal is still on track and should be completed shortly.
Time is starting to run out with under a week left in the winter transfer window. The deal will need to be close to completion shortly especially with a working visa at stake, but the players brother is certain it will get across the line. “I don’t think there’s anything to fear about the deal not going on as planned,” Allwell Nwakali is quoted as saying (via ESPN FC). “Given the type of visa we applied for, we hope it will be available within the shortest possible time.”
With a name like that, no wonder he has such a positive outlook. Allwell Nwakali said his younger brother is choosing Arsenal despite interest from other Premier League sides because of their proven record in developing young talent.
“Arsenal are known to have a good programme for young players,” he added. “They develop young stars and enhance their careers.”
Although nothing is set in stone, the youngster does look like he should seal a move to north London come the end of the month, if all progresses well with his visa. The signing would represent more investment in youth, with Krystian Bielik and Jeff Reine-Adelaide the most notable young talents joining the Gunners over the last twelve months.
Although Nwakali will not be primed for the first team squad for the remainder of this campaign, he’s another for the future.
