German publication Bild has claimed that Arsenal will ‘probably’ sign Borussia Dortmund centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos this summer (via Sport Witness).
It seems that Arsenal are on a quest to have the hardest to pronounce team in world football if this report is anything to go by.
Bild are reporting that Arsenal are keen on signing Sokratis Papastathopoulos this summer in a cut-price deal.
The German publication claims that a move to the Gunners is ‘probable’ with Arsenal’s head of recruitment Sven Mislintat playing a major role in negotiations.
€20 million is the fee cited for the player considering that the Greek defender is out of contract in the summer of 2019.
Papastathopoulos, usually just known as Sokratis is a 29-year-old centre-back who has been an outstanding player for Dortmund in the last few years.
Thursday’s 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid just further proved Arsenal’s need for another centre-back and Sokratis Papastathopoulos certainly fits the bill. He’s a quality player but surely, the Gunners will want to sign another centre-back to accompany him.
