Arsenal Target Oblak Opens Door To Transfer Offers In The Summer

Arsenal target, Jan Oblak has admitted that he doesn’t know if he will be at Atletico Madrid next season (via The Evening Standard).

It’s becoming increasingly likely that Arsenal will look to sign a first-team goalkeeper when the transfer window opens up in the summer.

Petr Cech turns 36 in a few weeks and there are reports that David Ospina will head for the exit door in the summer.

Bernd Leno and Allison have been cited as potential targets but the dream signing for many Arsenal fans would be Jan Oblak.

The Atletico Madrid stopper is probably amongst the five best goalkeepers in the world and now, the 25-year-old has opened the door to a future transfer.

“It’s tough to discuss the future,” Oblak said in an interview.

“It’s not easy to talk about what’s going to happen tomorrow never mind what will happen next season, but I am calm and the situation depends on Atletico – nobody knows the future.

“There’s nothing new, there have been a lot of things said and written about a new contract but the only confirmed situation is that there is nothing new.

“I have a contract that I signed two years ago, but now I must wait to see what Atleti’s plan is.”

Jan Oblak would be a fantastic signing for Arsenal but it’s a highly unlikely one considering the likely cost of it all and some of the sides also keen on the player. The likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-German are said to be admirers of Oblak and the Gunners cannot compete with them financially.
