BBC: Everton Keen To Sign Theo Walcott

Everton are reportedly keen on signing Theo Walcott and are investigating a potential deal to sign the Arsenal winger (via the BBC).

He’s the longest-serving first-team player at Arsenal by some distance but he could soon be on his way out after twelve years.

Theo Walcott joined Arsenal from Southampton way back in 2006 as a 16-year-old with a lot of promise.

Now 28, Walcott has since broken into the first-team, become an established player and suffered a nasty knee injury which kept him out of action for a year.

Walcott has fallen out of favour at the Emirates and with the World Cup just a few months away, looks set to leave the club to try and win a last-minute place in the England squad.

“If that can be sorted out it would be a great addition from an attacking point of view. I don’t think there’s a chance of a loan,” said Everton manager, Sam Allardyce went asked about a potential transfer.

“He’s scored 100 goals for Arsenal from wide positions. His pace is a key strength which we lack. To add goals would be very important for me. And he’s only 28.

“I don’t get optimistic otherwise I get disappointed. I’ll be very excited and enthused when someone, even if it’s not Theo, has signed on the dotted line.”

Theo Walcott has produced some wonderful moments at Arsenal down the years but he seems a long way away from the first-team right now. It’s a shame because Walcott actually had a very good season last year but it seems likely he will move on. Walcott presumably won’t be involved in Arsenal’s squad for the match on Sunday but you can find out how you can watch Arsenal against AFC Bournemouth right here.
