Galatasaray Open Talks With Arsenal Over Elneny

Galatasaray have reportedly opened talks with Arsenal over a move for midfielder Mohamed Elneny.

According to Turkish outlet Fotospor, the club’s sporting director Cenk Ergun has flown to London to begin negotiations.

Galatasaray are reportedly looking to strengthen in midfield and, having already missed out on top targets Giannelli Imbula and Sofiane Feghouli, have now turned their attentions to Elneny.

Apparently Arsenal are willing to offload the Egypt international, who made just eight Premier League starts for Arsenal last season.

The report also claims that Elneny was close to a move to Leicester, after agreeing terms with the Foxes, only for the 25-year-old to turn down the chance to move to the King Power Stadium.

Whether he would be keen on a move to Galatasaray remains to be seen, the club finished last season in fourth place, 13 points off Besiktas who were crowned champions.

Elneny is contracted to Arsenal until 2020, but is far from first choice and Arsene Wenger has plenty of midfield options at his disposal.

There have also been rumours the club could move for another central midfielder this summer, but with a bloated squad, the Gunners may well have to sell before they buy.

While Elneny is a quality member of the squad, he is unlikely to command a regular starting spot next season, and a move away could be tempting.
