Arsene Wenger has denied Arsenal made an offer to Monaco for in-demand striker Kylian Mbappe.
Speculation has claimed the Gunners made a world-record bid for the teenager earlier this summer.
However, Wenger has denied the club made an approach and also insists the striker will opt to remain at Monaco for one more season.
“That’s not true. People have a big imagination,” Wenger told the Mirror.
“What we know now is that Mbappe is over £100m and after that it’s free to imagine what you want.
“But we have not made any offer. I think he will stay, it looks like that.
“One more season. Maybe he has too much choice. In the end, people don’t move.”
Wenger was speaking after Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Western Sydney Wanderers, which saw new signing Alexandre Lacazette make his first start for his new club.
However, unlike on his debut, he was unable to get on the scoresheet with goals from Olivier Giroud, Aaron Ramsey and a deflected effort from Mohamed Elneny securing the win.
Arsenal will now head to China where they will play Bayern Munich and Chelsea, before returning to London for the Emirates Cup.
