Serie A side Sampdoria have made an approach to Arsenal over the transfer of out-of-favour midfielder Jack Wilshere (via Gianluca Di Marzio).
One of the biggest unknowns surrounding the club right now is the future of Jack Wilshere.
Once seen as the future of Arsenal’s midfield, injuries have stolen much of Wilshere’s career thus far. The 25-year-old has made just 159 appearances for the Gunners in nine seasons.
Wilshere spent last season out on-loan at AFC Bournemouth and with just one season remaining on his Arsenal contract, there is much uncertainty over his future.
Now, the Italian press is claiming that Serie A side Sampdoria have made an approach to sign the midfielder.
Gianluca Di Marzio is the source behind the claims and the report argues that Arsenal will be looking for a deal in excess of €10 million.
It’s a surprising piece of news and a transfer which few could have predicted. Barring some rumours of a move to Roma last season, the reports of Wilshere moving to Serie A seem to have come out of nowhere. It’s unclear whether the 25-year-old would be interested in the move and it’s doubtful that manager Arsene Wenger would want him to leave.
