‘Remote’ Chance Of Lucas Perez Returning To Deportivo, Says Club President

Deportivo only have a “remote” chance of re-signing Arsenal forward Lucas Perez, according to the club’s president Tino Fernandez.

Perez is widely expected to leave Arsenal this summer, after just one season, having become frustrated with a lack of game time.

Deportivo have already confirmed they would like him back and have now admitted talks have taken place with the Gunners.

However, they claim Arsenal are not looking to sell Perez, despite the forward being left out of the club’s tour of Australia and China.

“Lucas is at a great club who made a big financial effort for him, there’s a high level there and also the desire of the club is not to look for an exit,” Fernandez said according to ESPN.

“We’ve spoken to Arsenal, we were interested and we informed them of that, although it’s true that that was days ago and other things have happened since then, like the fact that he will not be with the team for a few games.”

Fernandez was then asked about the chances of Deportivo signing Perez this summer and answered: “The possibilities are remote.”

These are kind of surprising words from Depor, who have made their interest in bringing Perez back plain.

Wenger admitted earlier in the season the forward deserves more game time that he has been able to give him, and looked as though he would not stand in his way if he wanted to leave.

The arrival of Alexandre Lacazette, means competition for places in attack is even more fierce, and it will still be a surprise to see Perez at Arsenal come the close of the transfer window.
