Report: Arsenal And Fenerbache Agree €3.5 Million Deal For David Ospina

Reports in Turkey indicate that David Ospina will become a Fenerbache player next week after the Super Lig side agreed to a €3.5 million deal with Arsenal (via Fanatik).

Arsenal have already signed their first player of the summer window and it seems that one man could be about cross Sead Kolasinac on his way out of the club.

Reports in Turkey indicate that the Gunners have agreed a €3.5 million deal with Fenerbache for the transfer of David Ospina.

The Colombian arrived in North London in 2014 but has largely played second fiddle to Petr Cech since his arrival from Chelsea a year later.

Ospina has managed a total of 50 appearances for the Gunners in three seasons including his most recent one, the FA Cup final victory over Chelsea.

Wojciech Szczesny also complicates the goalkeeping situation at the Emirates with his two-year loan at Roma now expired. While there were reports that the Polish stopper is set to agree to a permanent move to Serie A, Arsene Wenger could look to keep hold of Szczesny to play as Cech’s backup.

For Ospina, meanwhile, it’s a shame. He’s clearly an excellent shot-stopper but just seems to lack some of the other attributes needed to be a top goalkeeper.

It’s probably the right thing for David Ospina to move on. His presence in goals doesn’t exactly fill most Arsenal fans with confidence and at 28 years old, it’s the right time for him to go and get some more first-team football. If this move does come through then there would be few complaints.
