Manchester United are monitoring Alexis Sanchez’s current situation and could make a summer move for the Chile international, according to the Daily Express.
Sanchez’s future at the club is hugely uncertain with the 28-year-old yet to agree a contract extension and amid reports of a bust-up during a training session.
Theo Walcott has this week admitted there was an incident on the training ground and warned his team-mates they must “stop fighting” if they are to end the season strongly.
Sanchez’s apparent unwillingness to sign a new deal, and recent frustrations, suggest he could well depart the club this summer although his future could also depend on who manages the club next season.
The Daily Express now report that United could move for Sanchez as they bid to strengthen their forward line, which has been over-reliant on 35-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimovic this campaign.
The Swede’s contract expires at the end of the season, and he has been linked with a move to LA Galaxy, which would leave Jose Mourinho’s side short of options in attack.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move for Antoine Griezmann although the striker has recently insisted he has no reason to leave Atletico Madrid and could be set to stay with Diego Simeone’s side.
Arsenal and Manchester United do have history when it comes to trading strikers, with Robin van Persie having moved to Old Trafford in 2012 while Danny Welbeck left United for the Gunners 2014.
While Sanchez’s departure is beginning to look inevitable there is no doubt the club would be loathe to sell him to a Premier League rival, and United in particular.
However, with Juventus and PSG also reportedly interested it seems a move abroad is a more likely option should Sanchez exit Arsenal this summer.
