Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Roma defender Kostas Manolas ahead of a summer move to the Emirates, according to whoscored.
The Greek international has been heavily linked with a move away from the Serie A club after establishing himself as one of the best defenders in the Italian league.
Manchester United and Chelsea have both been linked with a big-money move for the 25-year-old but could be set to miss out to the Gunners.
The report claims Luciano Spalletti’s side will allow Manolas to leave in the summer for a fee of £47m with Arsenal keen to strengthen their central defence.
The arrival of Shkodran Mustafi has been a huge boost for the Gunners but they are aware that Laurent Koscielny turned 31 in September while Per Mertesacker is 32.
Manolas had been expected to sign a new deal at Roma but it has not happened while reports have also claimed Roma need to sell for Financial Fair Play reasons.
The Serie A side are enjoying a fine season, currently second in the table, four points behind leaders Juventus.
Manolas has been a key figure for the Giallorossi but there has been speculation over his future all season, although he looks highly unlikely to leave in January.
However, Mustafi and Koscielny have forged a great partnership at the heart of the Arsenal defence and while Manolas is a quality player, his arrrival, particularly for such a huge fee, would surely force one of them onto the bench.
