Arsenal sent scouts to watch Porto star Yacine Brahimi in action against Feirense on Thursday, according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola.
The Algeria international has long been linked with a move to Arsenal but the rumour now appears to have raised its head again with the transfer window set to reopen in January.
The report claims the Gunners have been attracted by Brahimi’s recent return to top form and watched him in the 1-1 draw, along with representatives from Leicester and Atalanta.
While Brahimi could not find the target, he did come close, hitting the post as the hosts were held despite taking the lead through Ivan Marcano.
Porto went into the back of the game on a superb run of form having won their last five games, including a 5-0 thrashing of Leicester City in the Champions League.
After a poor start to the season, Brahimi has flourished in recent weeks scoring four goals in six games to help Porto move into second place in the table.
While Brahimi has frequently lit up the Portuguese league since joining from 2014, Arsenal already have plenty of options out wide with Theo Walcott, Alex Iwobi and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as well as Alexis Sanchez.
Furthermore, it was been widely reported that Brahimi has a €60m release clause which would surely prove a huge stumbling block.
Brahimi is also set to be out of domestic action for some weeks having been named in Algeria’s squad for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
