Hector Bellerin is reportedly tempted by the prospect of signing for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. The Spaniard has recently attracted interest from both City and FC Barcelona (via The Times).
He’s been a standout player for Arsenal this season and is one of the best youngsters the club has brought through in recent years but Hector Bellerin could soon be on his way out of the Emirates. The Spaniard has three years left on his current contract and is reportedly a target for some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
The youngster shone again on the weekend and has taken to the Arsenal first team with apparent ease since his breakthrough last year. The right back must be considered amongst the best young defenders in Europe today and it seems that other clubs are aware of it.
FC Barcelona have made Bellerin a transfer target as a long term replacement for Dani Alves but it’s Manchester City’s interest which seems to be turning the player’s head. The Times reports that Bellerin is ‘tempted’ by the prospect of playing under manager Pep Guardiola.
The right back is reportedly a big admirer of the former FC Barcelona and Bayern boss and is keen to play under him. The Times claims that Arsenal are readying a new five year contract for the 21-year-old whose current deal runs until 2019. It’s unclear whether Bellerin will put pen to paper on the deal but Arsenal fans will surely be hoping he does.
It is vitally important that Arsenal hang on to Hector Bellerin. The days of selling key players to rival sides should be behind us and any move would be a backwards step. Right back isn’t exactly the most important position on the pitch but Hector Bellerin is one of the best young players in the position so it would be a massive shame to lose him.
