Serge Gnabry has completed his move to Bundesliga side Werder Bremen. The 21-year-old signs for an undisclosed fee (via Werder Bremen’s Official Website).
It’s a surprising transfer story that has finally reached a conclusion today. German winger Serge Gnabry has signed for Bundesliga side Werder Bremen.
“We are delighted that Serge has decided [to sign] for Werder.” Said manager Viktor Skrypnyk. “He is a very young player who [has] most recently shown at the Olympic Games what skills he has.”
It was widely expected that the 21-year-old would be remaining at the Emirates for the long term after Arsene Wenger stated his desire for the youngster to sign a new contract at the club.
The midfielder made his final appearance for Arsenal in the 2013-14 season and has had a career in England plagued with injury and loss of form.
There is a tinge of regret about losing Gnabry despite what should be a decent price for a player in the last year of his contract. The winger is clearly very talented but didn’t show it in an Arsenal shirt for anymore than a spell of matches in 2013.
