Roma have agreed personal terms with Jack Wilshere over a potential loan move for the midfielder. The Italian club are yet to agree a deal with Arsenal.
It’s going to be one of the sagas of Deadline Day with Jack Wilshere heading towards the exit door at the Emirates. The 24-year-old was made available for loan by Arsenal just a few days ago and it emerged yesterday that upwards of 22 clubs were trying to secure the Englishman’s signature.
Crystal Palace and AFC Bournemouth were the two sides Jack Wilshere had apparently shortlisted for a potential move but now it has emerged that Roma has agreed a deal with the player.
Understand Roma (led by Baldini) & Wilshere camp have agreed terms. He's keen but it's not done, up to Arsenal #AFC #CPFC #AFCB #DeadlineDay

The ever-reliable David Ornstein of the BBC has broken the story. The Baldini he is referring to is Franco Baldini, the former-Tottenham Hotspur technical director. The Italian is now working as a transfer consultant for AS Roma and has been in London since the weekend. Wilshere also has history with Baldini who served as an assistant manager for the England National Team between 2007 and 2011.
While no deal has been struck between the clubs, a move to Roma could be attractive to Wilshere. As we discussed yesterday, the midfielder would join Arsenal loanee Wojciech Szczesny in Italy as well as former-club captain Thomas Vermaelen.
As surprising as it is, loaning Wilshere to Roma could be a good move for all parties. Arsenal undoubtedly have options in his position with Francis Coquelin, Aaron Ramsey, Santi Cazorla, and now Granit Xhaka at the club. All four are solid players and The Gunners are definitely stronger in that position than they were last season. Wilshere could return in twelve months and maybe even take Santi Cazorla’s place in the squad. The Spaniard turns 32 later this year and will need to be phased out eventually.
