Shkodran Mustafi’s agent has said that his client has agreed personal terms with Arsenal over a transfer to the club. His agent Ali Bulut went on to tell German news site Spox that the clubs are still working on a fee for the 24 year-old (via ESPN).
We broke news earlier today that Arsenal were closing in on a deal for the centre back and it seems to be progressing well. The World Cup winner has been linked with a move for weeks but there seems to have been a lot of movement in the last few hours.
“Shkodran and Arsenal are in agreement.” Bult told Spox. “Not the club only have to agree on a transfer fee.”
Bulut doesn’t specify how much that could be but The Times reported earlier that it could be around the £20 million mark. Arsenal have already signed young centre back Rob Holding from Bolton Wanderers this summer but the injuries to Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista have upped the urgency for defensive cover.
Mustafi was impressive for Germany in the European Championships this summer and seems to be a good mix of youth and experience. The Valencia centre back seems to fit the bill for both short-term cover and a long-term replacement for the 31 year-old Per Mertesacker.
