Moussa Sissoko has long been linked with a move to Arsenal, and for the last few transfer windows we’ve apparently been monitoring his situation. The Frenchman has once again revealed his love for Arsenal, publicly stating that he wants to leave Newcastle and make the switch to north London, as reported by the Mirror.

The 26-year-old has been one of the standout performers for a poor Newcastle side over the last couple of years, and has consequently been linked with a move away. He hasn’t been subtle about his desire to leave either, more so this summer than ever before.
He’s reiterated his desire to join Arsenal in a lengthy interview too, essentially screaming ‘come and get me‘ to Arsene Wenger. He described the club as “beautiful”, suggesting that he hoped he was playing for Arsenal in the Champions League next season.
“I want to leave [Newcastle],” Sissoko said. “I want to continue my career in England, at a club that plays in the Champions League, because I think the English league is the championship that best fits my style of play.
“As I said, above all Newcastle must accept my choice. I want to continue to progress, play at a very high level, to continue playing for France. Being in Newcastle, it will be complicated, I think.
“Arsenal is one of the best European clubs. To be followed by this kind of club, it proves that I have the quality. It’s good to know.
“I hope I will have a chance soon to play at this club or similar club… it’s a very big European club. I think few people would refuse to play for this club.
“Everyone knows, I have often said when I was young, my heart was Arsenal, because there were a lot of French players there – Thierry Henry, Robert Pires, Sylvain Wiltord, Patrick Vieira who was my idol.
“The beautiful Arsenal. We’ll see. I cannot tell you that I will go to Arsenal. For now, I’m focused on France and the Euros.
“I have advisers who manage all this and I hope everything will go well with minimal difficulty for me to find another club.”
Sissoko is unquestionably a talented player, but there does seem to be a reason he hasn’t gotten the bigger move he wants yet. He often goes missing in games, and far too regularly he has an attitude that seems to suggest he just doesn’t really care that much.
He would definitely bring something a little different to the team, as we don’t really have any other players with his combination of pace and power in the squad. It’s questionable whether he’d fit into Arsene Wenger’s style though, which is probably why we haven’t already moved for him.

It’s possible that Sissoko could be a booming success if he did make the move to Arsenal this summer, but with Wenger unlikely to want to bring too many players in at once for fear of upsetting the cohesion at the club, it does seem rather unlikely.
