Theo Walcott has been hugely disappointing recently, and many Arsenal fans are desperate to see the back of him. Arsene Wenger has disappointed them though, by confirming that the England international would be here next season, as reported by Goal.
The speedster hasn’t even come close to realising the massive potential he showed as a teenager, and has barely improved during his decade at the club. Despite being the longest serving player at the club he still hasn’t managed to nail down a regular starting spot, instead restricted to the odd substitute appearance with little to no impact.
The serious injury to Danny Welbeck has Wenger considering his options though, and with Welbeck ruled out for nine months (via the BBC) the manager confirmed that Walcott was going nowhere.
“He will be here next season,” Wenger said.
A huge number of Arsenal fans will be furious with this news for a number of reasons, and it will only increase the anger directed towards Wenger.
Not only were many hoping to see the back of Walcott this summer, but even more were praying that Welbeck’s injury would force Wenger into the market for another striker. The manager’s comments seem to suggest that Walcott will be the one to replace his international teammate, and that’s definitely bad news.

We unquestionably need at least one attacking acquisition this summer, and ideally we’d sign a top class striker and a wide player. That’s seemingly more and more unlikely though, and it could be a case of deja vu once again next season.
