Mesut Özil has sent a message to his friend Ilkay Gundogan following the Borussia Dortmund star’s latest injury, wishing him well and a speedy recovery.
Gundogan is a reported target of ours (via the Daily Mail), with Manchester City and Barcelona also monitoring the midfielder.
The 25-year-old recently suffered the latest in a long line of injuries, with the German Turk experiencing an extremely painful sounding dislocated knee (via the Manchester Evening News). He’s been plagued by injuries for years now, which is arguably the only reason he hasn’t already secured a big money move away from Dortmund.
Özil is good friends with the talented midfielder, and wished him well on Instagram after hearing that he’d be missing the Euro 2016 Championships.
While an injury hasn’t ever stopped Arsene Wenger in the past, it does seem like this latest blow has scuppered any chance Gundogan had of securing a move away this summer. There are plenty of other players on the market, and even if Wenger was keen on the Dortmund star, considering the fan fury directed his way at the moment he can’t afford to sign an already injured player.
