Olivier Giroud has been struggling for goals for quite some time, but it’s still a bit of a shock to see him linked with an Emirates exit this summer. The Frenchman has apparently been approached by VfL Wolfsburg though, with an offer on the table, according to FootMercato.
Arsene Wenger has kept faith with his compatriot despite his incredibly poor form, while the fans have really started to lose what little they had left. We’ve been crying out for a new striker for years, but Wenger has only added Danny Welbeck to the squad. We’re still badly in need of a new forward, but ideally it would be as well as Giroud rather than instead of him.
Our inability to put away the chances we’ve created this season has been a real factor in our failure to challenge, with our goals tally incredibly low despite the numerous chances created by Mesut Özil. A new striker has to be a priority, and if Giroud’s link to Wolfsburg turns out to be real then you have to imagine Wenger is looking at bringing a big name into the club.
The Bundesliga side have apparently offered him up to £5.5m a year to make the switch to Germany (via the Express), and if Wenger really is looking to make a big name signing this summer then a move may appeal to the 29-year-old.

Wolfsburg’s playstyle may actually suit the forward more than Arsenal’s would too, and he could be much more of a focal point for club. We could certainly do with a more mobile forward capable of creating chances on his own, but hopefully we add to our firepower rather than just replacing Giroud.
