Joao Santos, agent of Napoli midfielder Jorginho, has claimed Arsenal are interested in his client if this report from Daily Star is to be believed, however with five years to run on his current deal he is likely to stay put.
The Brazilian-born Italian has been making a name for himself with Napoli, earning his first call up to Italy’s national team ahead of their upcoming friendlies. A defensive midfielder by trade, he has also attracted attention from the likes of Real Madrid.
Santos said: “Real Madrid and Arsenal know Jorginho, if they came forward with an official offer we’d talk but at the moment all I can say is that Jorginho has a five-year contract with Napoli and wants to play for them in the Champions League next year.”
Arsenal have reportedly expressed an interest for Jorginho in the past, with Metro even going as far as saying the Gunners launched a bid for the 24-year-old in the winter transfer window. However with Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny sufficient options in defensive midfield, this rumour seems a little far fetched.
Jorginho is a player not many have heard of, much like Elneny it’s fair to say, however it appears his agent is attempting to put his man in the shop window by linking him with numerous top clubs. Arsenal may have been interested in the past, but it’s unlikely anything will happen in the foreseeable future.
