Javier Hernandez is in fine form at the moment, and has been setting the Bundesliga alight with his goals this season. He’s reportedly looking to have another go at cracking the Premier League though, and believes Arsenal will give him a good chance of doing that, according to the Daily Star.
The Mexican forward has scored 11 goals for Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga this season, and 19 goals in all competitions. His £7m move (via the Daily Star) to the German side is looking like a real bargain, and his form has attracted the attention of a number of clubs.
Arsene Wenger is allegedly among those interested in signing the 27-year-old, and the Daily Star claim “sources close to the player” believe he would be willing to join Arsenal.
Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott are currently our only options up front, with Danny Welbeck unavailable through injury (via Arsenal.com). Chicharito isn’t exactly the world class forward we’ve been hoping to see join the club, but he’d certainly add decent squad depth.
Do we want to be filling our side with Manchester United rejects though? And is the diminutive striker really going to improve us significantly?
It may be a case of no top quality strikers being available, in which case you could argue that Hernandez would be better than nothing. But we really need players who will improve our starting XI, not just provide backup.

The ex-Manchester United and Real Madrid striker isn’t going to transform us in any great way, so is he really the player we need? Whether there is any truth in this rumour or not, it’s hard to see Hernandez’s acquisition making too many Gooners all that happy.
