Arsenal have reportedly been scouting Croatian hotshot Ante Budimir over the past few weeks, and now appear to be zeroing in on a January move for the 24-year-old striker, according to Italian football website Calciomercato (via the Daily Mirror).
As we move ever closer to the January transfer window opening, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has his scouts working overtime to find suitable candidates. The general consensus among fans is that Wenger will look to sign a defensive midfielder and a striker once the window opens in just over a week’s time, although when has the Frenchman ever done what was expected of him?
Budimir is owned by German second division side FC St Pauli, but is currently on loan in Italy with Italian Serie B side Crotone.
The Zenica born forward has attracted the attention of Arsenal following his performances for Crotone, which have seen him score nine goals in 19 appearances so far this season, including one goal in their recent 3-1 defeat to AC Milan in the Coppa Italia (via Whoscored).
Goal are reporting that Arsenal scout Tony Banfield has been dispatched to Italy to track the former Lokomotiva Zagreb striker, and that he has been in attendance for several matches.
