Arsenal’s on-loan midfielder Dani Ceballos has dropped a hint that he is returning to Real Madrid this month (via The Mirror).

The Gunners have no shortage of injury problems right now but central midfield isn’t one of them.

Lucas Torreira and Granit Xhaka are performing well and the Gunners have Matteo Guendouzi, Joe Willock, and Dani Ceballos in reserve.

However, it looks like that may no longer be the case with reports that the latter is set to end his time at the club.

Ceballos is on loan from Real Madrid and has only just returned from an injury. However, reports in England suggest that he could be about to return to Spain.

The reports in The Mirror come from a hint Ceballos may have dropped on his Instagram in a reply to Hector Bellerin.

“I’ll miss those goals with the left foot bro! You deserve all the good that happens to you,” Ceballos wrote to his compatriot.

This comes just a week after David Ornstein claimed that Ceballos is “unhappy” with his loan situation and that the Gunners are in the market for a midfielder this January.

It’s hardly the most concrete rumour around. Still, there may be something to it, especially after the quotes from David Ornstein last week. We’ll just have to wait and see whether there’s something in it.
