Arsenal are reportedly looking to move Mathieu Flamini on today with the Frenchman labelled as surplus to requirements following the emergence of Francis Coquelin, the Daily Mail reports.

Flamini hasn’t been included in the matchday squad for three of our last four league games this season, with Arsene Wenger opting to start Coquelin while Mikel Arteta has been used as the backup option in the holding midfield position.
The decision to recall Flamini in 2013 seemed rather odd at the time given that he left the club in acrimonious fashion after one good season in 2008.
Many felt that Flamini’s availability on a free transfer is what initially interested Wenger in bringing him back and it has been nothing short of a disaster.
In a position where we’ve needed an option since the sale of Gilberto Silva, Coquelin has proven how inept Flamini looked in that role over the past two years.
However, with no addition currently forthcoming, it would be rather surprising if Wenger let Flamini depart without replacing him.
