Lyon president, Jean-Michel Aulas has spoken about the rumours linking Nabil Fekir with a move to Arsenal (via The Metro).
On paper, it seems like the ideal signing. Arsenal are in the market for an attacking player with the Mesut Ozil/Alexis Sanchez situation and this man fits the bill.
Lyon’s Nabil Fekir is young, quick and technically excellent. He has broken into the France team after going on an incredible run of form domestically.
The Gunners were strongly linked with the Frenchman earlier in the week and now, the often outspoken Lyon President, Jean-Michel Aulas has given his thoughts on the potential transfer.
“Will Fekir be at the club after the winter transfer window? Of course”, he told SFR Sport.
“And nothing says that he will leave at the end of the season either. He is under contract [until 2020] and likes playing for Lyon very much.
“He’s enjoying a period of success football-wise, but also in terms of management as he’s the captain of a Lyon team who has got itself back on track – and that’s also thanks to him.
“Of course, he has a very good chance of being at Lyonnais. He’s a symbol.
“In between times, there is the World Cup. If France makes the final and he scores the winning goal, of course, he’ll get offers. But we will do everything to get Nabil to stay. And I think he wants to.”
Nabil Fekir is a quality player and Arsenal have dealt a lot with Lyon’s President in the past. There’s a general feeling that Aulas will sell any player for the right price because the French side’s academy and scouting setup is so good that they’ll be right back in the same situation within a few years. Let’s hope that is the case.
