Reports in Germany indicate that Arsenal have rejoined the race to sign Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka but that FC Barcelona are favourites for his signature (via The Mirror).
It may only be mid-September but that doesn’t seem to stop the transfer rumours from swirling, particularly when Arsenal are concerned.
The Gunners are one of the top go-to teams when it comes to a club needing a player, probably because there is so much need for reinforcement on the pitch.
Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka is one of those players who always seems to be linked with a move to the Gunners, particularly in the last twelve months.
Now, German publication Bild has claimed that the Gunners have rejoined the race to sign the 22-year-old whose contract at the club expires next summer.
However, the report also states that Bayern Munich and FC Barcelona are leading the race for the player who made 30 Bundesliga appearances last season.
It seems unlikely that there is any truth in these rumours. Arsenal would undoubtedly be looking at a player like Leon Goretzka who has impressed so many in recent years but if FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich are involved then that could be it.
