Wenger: We Have To Spend £70 Million To Replace Sanchez Next Season

Arsene Wenger has said that it will cost £70 million for Arsenal to sign a replacement for Alexis Sanchez when his contract expires next season.

After failing to sign Thomas Lemar on deadline day, Arsenal now look likely to lose Alexis Sanchez for nothing next summer once his contract expires.

The Chilean’s deal expires in June and was the subject of much interest from Manchester City. Now, Arsene Wenger has spoken about what the Gunners will have to do in the next twelve months to replace the forward.

“You take a Sanchez into the final year of his contract,” Wenger told beIN Sports. “You sacrifice £60-70 million income and at the end of the season, you will have to buy somebody for that amount of money.

“It has a huge price. At some stage, you have make a decision to sacrifice one or two.

“We have 107 players in England who go into the final year of their contract. It’s a complete rotation in the way people see their careers.”

It’s going to be tough to watch Alexis Sanchez leave for nothing next season which is the likeliest thing to happen. The Chilean has been a great player for the Gunners down the years so hopefully, he won’t undo some of it by joining a Premier League rival.
