Arsenal are now reportedly set to keep Alexis Sanchez at the club for another season after running out of time to sign Thomas Lemar (via The Guardian).
Well, it looks like this topsy-turvy deadline day has just taken another turn as far as Arsenal are concerned.
Just hours ago it looked like the Gunners would not be completing any business in the transfer market. That situation changed following a huge bid for Alexis Sanchez and Arsenal reigniting their interest in Thomas Lemar.
The Gunners reportedly had a club-record £90 million bid for Thomas Lemar accepted but now the club are claiming that there isn’t enough time to complete the transfer.
Lemar is currently with the French national team and is expected to feature in their match against the Netherlands.
As a result, The Guardian are now claiming that Arsene Wenger has called off the pursuit of Lemar and is instead going to keep hold of Chilean Alexis Sanchez.
It has been a baffling few hours for Arsenal Football Club at the end of a baffling transfer window. Why are the club’s best players refusing to sign new contracts and why are the Gunners claiming that they don’t have enough time to complete a transfer when they’ve had all summer. Stay tuned because it seems that nobody – including everyone at the club – has any idea what is going to happen next.
