Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is reportedly closing in on an Arsenal exit after the Gunners agreed a £35 million deal with Liverpool for the England international.
According to the Liverpool Echo, with a fee agreed the Ox will now undergo a medical this evening at St George’s Park before signing on at Liverpool.
The 24-year-old will then head to Malta with the rest of the England squad for their World Cup qualifier on Friday night.
Oxlade-Chamberlain had earlier reportedly rejected a move to Chelsea, in favour of signing for the Reds, with Arsenal willing to sell as he is in the final year of his contract.
The move, if it happens, will be a huge blow to manager Arsene Wenger who has previously spoken of his desire for the versatile Englishman to stay at the club and play a big part in its future.
Embarrassingly for Wenger he also previously insisted he was “100%” sure the Ox would stay at the club, amid interest from Liverpool and Chelsea.
There are suggestions Oxlade-Chamberlain is keen to move to in a bid to play regularly, and in his favoured central midfield role, rather than at wing-back.
However, there is no guarantee he will be a regular at Liverpool with Emre Can, Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana for competition and with Naby Keita set to arrive next summer.
