Joel Campbell has reportedly told Arsenal he does not want to be loaned out yet again, as he recovers from a knee injury.
According to the Guardian, Campbell has already spoken to the club and explained his reluctance at being farmed out having spent last season with Sporting.
The deal with Sporting was the fifth time Campbell had been loaned out since joining the club in 2011, and it seems he has become frustrated with the situation.
Campbell is currently recovering from a knee injury picked up on international duty at the Gold Cup for Costa Rica, but has returned to training this week.
However, Arsenal need to trim their squad further despite having announced the departures, on loan, this week of Cohen Bramall and Carl Jenkinson, who have moved to Birmingham City.
The report also notes that Arsenal currently have 28 senior players, three over the Premier League limit, meaning further departures must occur before the close of the transfer window.
Whether Campbell is one of those remains to be seen. The most likely departures appear to be Lucas Perez, Mathieu Debuchy and Kieran Gibbs although Jack Wilshere could also be moved on.
Interest remains in Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, however, for now at least, Wenger appears adamant that neither player will be sold despite being in the final year of their contracts.
